Friday, June 11, 5:30 pm, Sylvia Allen to Host Public Lands and Forest Ralley
Sen. Sylvia Allen will be hosting a "Save Our Public Lands and Forests Rally" on Friday, June 11th in Eagar at the High School Auditorium (corner of 6th Ave. and Butler). She will also have fellow Republican candidates Dean Martin (Governor), J.D. Hayworth (U.S. Senate), and Rusty Bowers (U.S. House). Attend if you can and help others understand that what she and the C.M.L.U.A. are saying is patently false We WILL be able to camp, hunt, gather wood, etc. even if the most resource minded option is chosen. These other three candidates would probably enjoy the enlightenment.
Inventory Chiricahua Leopard Frogs, June 19-20
Linda J. WhiteTrifaro is looking for a few volunteers who would be willing to hike down Coleman Creek then Campbell Blue Creek, overnighting it for the weekend of June 19-20. The objective would be to assist the Forest Service and Arizona Game and Fish with a thorough look for Chiricahua leopard frogs. Four of us tried surveying Coleman and Camp Blue Creeks last year but we had to conclude it will take many more sets of eyes to get the job done because of the well-vegetated conditions on these creeks. It takes patience scanning areas with slow water. Folks would need to bring their own binoculars and a good flashlight. (Photo credit Rorabaugh/USFWS)
On Saturday we would leave some vehicles down at Luce Ranch then drive back up to Hwy 191, hiking down Coleman Creek from there, camping overnight, then hiking down Campbell Blue Creek. On Sunday, we'd drive back up the Blue road and around to Hwy 191 to pick up vehicles on the top. We'd be hiking downstream so it is not a strenous hike. Folks would bring their own camping equipment and food.
If you are interested, contact Linda in the evenings after 7 pm at 339-4408 or during the day at the number below.
