Please join us on the Blue River for a Labor Day Weekend Party (RSVP please)
- September 5th
Don and Janie Hoffman would like to invite all WMCL members for the annual end of summer party/barbeque. Don and Janie will provide barbeque (not sure what yet, but it will include a vegetarian alternative), so please RSVP by September 1st so we can prepare accordingly. We have some seating, but please bring chairs if possible. We will have an early evening campfire and a discussion regarding WMCL’s goals and priorities. There is plenty of camping space available for those that would like to stay overnight. We hope to have a great turn out and look forward to visiting with you!
- Place: Don and Janie Hoffman’s home.
- Date: Sunday, September 5, 2010
- Time: We will eat around 4:30 p.m. but you are welcome to arrive anytime after noon to visit, hike, bike, throw horse shoes, or help set up.
- Bring: a side dish and your preferred beverage. You may also want to
bring a chair.
RSVP: Don and Jane, 928-339-4426 or j.hoffman@frontiernet.net
Directions (From Alpine, Arizona) Go east on Highway 180 about 3 miles toward the New Mexico state line. You will see Luna Lake on the north side of the highway.
There is a green ADOT highway sign that says Blue River twenty-two miles. You turn south here on Apache County road number 2104.
The road will turn to a good dirt road right after you pass the turnoff to the Alpine Country Club.
Eventually, you will cross the county-line into Greenlee County and the road number will change to 67004. Greenlee County has mile markers on its section of the road. The mile markers start at mile marker 5, Apache County does not have mile markers on its section.
The important thing is to turn off Highway 180 at the Blue River ADOT sign and stay on that road for almost ten miles until you see a group of mailboxes on the left and Forest Road 16 marker (the road we live on). If you see mileage marker 10 you have gone too far. Forest road 16 is between mile marker 9 and 10 on the left. (Remember the mile markers start at the Greenlee county line with mile marker 5.)
Turn left onto Forest Road 16. You will drive about ½ mile. Our place is the first place you will see on the right. (Take a right at the fork after the cattle guard.)
