Support the White Mountain Conservation League

The White Mountain Conservation League is a small community organization that works to ensure local conservation concerns are heard on issues that impact the management of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest. The League is the only locally based organization working on these issues. We live here, play here, work here, visit here, and have direct hands-on knowledge of issues that impact the quality of this forest. Making our voice heard is challenging when well-financed industry interests attempt to influence the management of our forests. With Travel Management and Forest Planning,ORV manufacturers are providing outside financing. We need to counter-balance their influence. A critical event is rapidly approaching—release of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS). This is our final opportunity to make sure that our precious White Mountain natural resources are protected and soundly managed for generations to come.

The League operates on a very limited budget funded in the past by voluntary donations from the membership and the generosity of Board members who regularly contribute money for operational expenses. We have not sent out an appeal to the entire membership in two to three years, but find ourselves in need of funds to continue the struggle to keep the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest as pristine as possible.

I know for many that times are tough and money is tight, but when you consider how much this forest provides to you, your families, friends, and visitors,I know you will want to contribute whatever you can for this effort. In the past we have asked for only nominal donations…$10 or $20 at most. Now however we’d like to encourage all of you to give whatever you feel comfortable with and can afford. Nothing is too small, and nothing is too big. And all contributions are TAX DEDUCTABLE!!!

Members of the WMCL Board identified four priorities to which the funds will be devoted::

  1. Direct mailing to contact members, prospective members, and community leaders. We would also like to establish a member phone list for direct contact and/or a phone tree to help get the word out.
  2. A digital projector for presentations to community groups and leaders to display vividly what we are doing and what needs to be done.
  3. Printing costs

Please help with this and continue to provide your input to the decision makers and to your Board. We need your input and opinions!

Thanks in advance and get involved when and where you can.

Sincerely,
Dave Holaway,your President,and the Board
